The cacao, "food of the gods", has its origin in the Amazon basin.
Peru is classified as the third-largest producer and exporter of cacao in Latin America.

Peru is the center of the origin of cacao and has the highest genetic biodiversity in cacao in the world. Our Amazon is home to six of the ten genetic varieties that exist of this grain that stimulates the release of endorphins.
